What is NWRDSC?

NWRDSC stands for North West Regional Defence & Security Cluster.

What is the purpose of the cluster?

The primary purpose of the cluster is to allow industry, academia and government to share ideas, promote collaboration and encourage commercialisation, growth and productivity across the North West region. The cluster provides a single hub for all Defence and Security activity and is multi-domain, spanning Land, Sea, Air, Space and Cyber.

Who is involved in the NWRDSC?

The cluster is backed by both the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and The Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA) and was developed with the support of several prominent regional defence and security organisations. As the cluster develops, involvement will be welcome from an array of private sector businesses, government agencies, academia, trade bodies and public sector organisations.

How can my organisation benefit from working with NWRDSC?

NWRDSC can benefit your organisation by:

  • Providing data, information, and knowledge of the UK Defence landscape.
  • Developing opportunities for funding and accreditations.
  • Lobbying MoD and Government to ensure optimal conditions for success in terms of funding, promotion and opportunities.
  • Providing a forum for discussion and collaboration between MoD, Prime, SMEs, Academia, and Local Government
  • Using the combined strength of the cluster members to generate new ideas and technology development programmes that provide increased innovation funding in the region.
  • Growing skills and capability across the region.
  • Representation at all relevant events and promotion of capabilities to MoD.

Is there eligibility criteria for membership?

Membership of the NWRDSC is open to traditional and non-traditional Defence & Security businesses, Higher Education Institutions and Research and Technology Organisations. Membership is for organisations rather than individuals.
